China's Influence

China recently said that they have less influence over North Korea than they thought.  They said that decisions that North Korea will make in the near future would not be from their influence.  This may show some preview to aggressive moves by North Korea on the South Korea border.

This altogether is not a good situation at all.  It seems that the border between North and South Korea will not be the same in the next years or even months.  Even worse, the United States looks like they have a very high chance of entering into a "new" North and South Korean conflict.  So the questions I want to ask are what determines influence over a country and how you believe this will turn out?

  1. I think respect determines influence over a country. In my opinion, the leaders of North Korea clearly do not respect the leaders of China. I believe this entire situation will end up very bad. I definitely agree that the border between North and South Korea will not be the same in the near future. I think this conflict is going to cause waaay bigger problems in the future.

  2. I think CHina should take a more active role in North Korea. However, China's role should push for peace and compromise. The United States should use its political sway to prevent war.
